Evbuoriaria Chief Magistrate Court in Benin, Edo State capital has remanded a house help, Esther Ehikhioya, 43, at the Benin Correctional Centre for assaulting a two-year-old girl.

The little girl, who was presented in the facility on February 4, was examined by Dr Efosa Osagie, the Medical Officer of Police Cottage Hospital.
According to Efosa; “On examination, I found a young child of pre-school age hymen not intact, no abrasion, nil bruises and nil redness around the vaginal area or anus.”
The allegations of assault on the teenager are one of the many series yet to be revealed as the crime rises with little efforts put in place to curb the spread.
