Edo Police Command has arrested four men with a cut-to-size gun on Benin/Lagos expressway in Edo State.

The suspects were arrested on Friday, 10 June 2022, at about 06:45hrs.

According to the police report, a team of policemen attached to Safer Highway, Edo State, stopped and searched a Gold-coloured Mercedez Ben Saloon car with Registration No. Lagos BDG 183 AH on Mile 18 and arrested the occupants.

The suspects are Ailojie Christopher, 52, Iyamu Aisosa, 32, Idemudia Osatare, 26, and Frank Joseph, 25.

The police said they were stopped due to their unsettling appearance, and during the search, a locally made pistol and one live cartridge wrapped in a polythene bag were recovered.

The Edo police command said the suspects had made a statement, confessing that the firearm belonged to Iyamu Aisosa.

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the police Strike force can now be spotted on most highways.

The move is to prevent the free movement of criminals across the state.

The arrested suspects would be charged to court once the investigation is completed, the police image-maker added.
