The state commissioner has given Edo State Police command a matching order to fish out culprits responsible for the abduction and murder of a vendor in Benin City.
Standard Gazette reported exclusively how the food vendor, Mrs Taofik Tawa, was last seen on Saturday, January 15 2022, before she was declared wanted by her worrying children.
On Sunday, January 16 2022, she was found covered in sawdust at Osaretin Street, off Uwagboe street, in Ugbowo, Benin City, Edo State.
When our correspondent visited the scene, the woman was found completely naked with her private part mutilated; her undies and waist beads were spotted a few metres away, indicating that suspected ritualists murdered her.
On Thursday, Edo State Police Commissioner CP Philip Ogbadu ordered the Homicide department to fish out Tawa's killers.
The Police Public Relations Officers SP Bello Kontongs disclosed this in Benin City while speaking with Standard Gazette crime correspondent Festus Alenkhe.
The suspects now at large also hurriedly used sawdust to bury the woman as her undies helped identify the deceased.
SP Kontongs said, "men of the Homicide department of the Edo State Police Command and other police teams have stepped up action to ensure the arrest of those who carried out the dastardly act."
According to the Edo state Police Public Relations Officer, "We have condoled the family of the deceased, and we wish to appeal to the public to remain calm.
"We can assure you that we will arrest those who killed Mrs Taofik Tawa and ensure that they face the wrath of the law".
Late Mrs Tawa Taofik, who left behind four children, has been buried according to Islamic rites.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
