Some Nigerian officers in Ekpoma, in Edo State, have run over a man after he refused to hand over his mobile phone.
A video of the incident surfaced on social media showing the man, whose identity is unknown, lying down on the road in protest of his phone before two officers angrily ran him over.
As the concerned persons tried to stop the officer, one of the men ran out of the vehicle and shot into the air as he ran, leaving his colleagues behind.

According to the poster, Rinu Odiaua, who quoted an eyewitness, “The police officers from Ekpoma division accosted him to check his phone, which he said no to, as this is unlawful. Then, they seized his phone, handcuffed him, and proceeded to take him to their station.
“Other passersby intervened, and the police officers made to leave the scene without uncuffing him. In the middle of the back and forth, he lay on the ground, and the police officer ran over him with the vehicle.
“After this, the police officers came down from the vehicle and ran away.”
One of the Twitter Users with the username @emrysfresh said the incident happened in Ekpoma, adding, “students like me who attends Ambrose Alli University are not safe.”
He continued, “Na my area for school this stuff happen oo. (This indent happened in my school area.” They were only able to catch one of the police officers. The guy was severely injured. Police brutality in Ekpoma is too much.
