Edo State Gets  New Commissioner

The Edo State Police Command has unveiled a new commissioner, CP Neni Edwin-Iwo, who resumed office on Tuesday.  

CP Nemi Edwin-Iwo, the forty-seventh commissioner of police to Edo State, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

He hails from Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State and holds a BA (Hons) Degree in History from the University of Port-Harcourt and a Master in Industrial Relations from the University of Ibadan. 

In a statement, the public relations officer SP Moses Joel Yamu said the new commissioner was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and rose through the ranks. 

The statement reads that over the last three decades in the Force, CP Nemi Edwin-Iwo has attended several Tactical and Leadership Courses both within and outside the Country, notable Which include:

  • Combat Operational course (Mobile Training School Desert camp Gwoza
  • Citizenship and Leadership Course Shere Hills, Jos, Plateau State
  • Intermediate Command Course (ICC, Jos) 
  • Tactical Counter Terrorism Course, Police Academy, Cairo-Egypt
  • Human Rights Training Course 
  • EU Countering Violent Extremism Course 
  • Community Policing Course

The new CP is said to be a hardworking, versatile and dedicated law enforcement officer who has held several Command positions, which include: 

  • Divisional Police Officer, Bayelsa State 
  • PPRO, Lagos State
  • PPRO, Oyo State
  • Operations Officer Bayelsa State
  • Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, among others.

Until his present posting, he was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Intelligence at the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja. 

He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). 

He is married with children.
