Edo State Government, LP Governorship Candidate Olumide Akpata Fumes Over Billboards Removal

Barrister Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party candidate in the forthcoming governorship election, has issued a strong warning to those removing his billboards to cease. He will not take it lightly if this continues. 

The Labour Party candidate issued the warning while inspecting some locations where the billboards were removed.

Some of the points visited are Stadium Road by Akenzua, Ekehuan Road by UNIBEN, and Benin Lagos Road by S&T Isiohor, where it was visible that the billboards were totally pulled down.

Expressing his displeasure, Labour Party governorship candidate Barrister Olumide Akpata said it was disgusting that his billboards were singled out for removal despite meeting all contractual obligations, including monetary ones.

He said the same thing happened during the primary, and again, he is repeating himself. He wonders whether such a method can deprive a chosen one like him of winning the September governorship election.

However, Labour Party governorship candidate Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata fingered the leadership of Oredo, Ikpoba Okha, and Ovia North East as those removing the billboards as allegedly directed by the state government.

Responding to the allegations, Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation Chris Nehikhare explained that the LP candidate is “crying wolf where none exists.”

He said Akpata should go and pay his contractual agreement with the billboard operators and stop using the media to propagate lies.

The Commissioner said he sympathised with the LP candidate because he has no house as a party anymore since the Labour Party in Edo State is riddled with crisis, a situation that has made him confuse the
