Benin City, Edo State – The Benin National Congress (BNC), a leading socio-cultural and political organisation dedicated to the advancement of Benin values and the interests of Edo State, has congratulated His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo State, on the occasion of his first 100 days in office.

In a statement signed by its President, Amb. Aiyamenkhue Edokpolo AmbP-UN, and Secretary General, Comrade Maxwell Uwagboe, the BNC commended the Governor for reaching this significant milestone while highlighting key areas requiring urgent attention to ensure the continued progress and stability of the state.

The BNC acknowledged the efforts of previous administrations in laying the groundwork for a sustainable security architecture but urged the Governor to strengthen security frameworks further.

The organisation emphasised the importance of enhancing intelligence gathering and fostering collaboration among security agencies to safeguard lives and property.

According to the BNC, a robust security system is essential for attracting investments and promoting economic growth and social cohesion.

The statement also addressed the escalating tensions surrounding traditional rulerships across Edo State’s three senatorial districts.

The BNC described the situation as a matter of great concern and called on the Governor to take proactive steps to mediate and resolve these issues.

The organisation stressed the need to preserve and respect the rich cultural heritage of Edo’s traditional institutions, noting that peaceful resolutions would promote unity and stability across the state.

Another pressing issue raised by the BNC was the encroachment of Edo lands by neighbouring states.

The organisation expressed dismay at the growing trend and urged the Governor to take decisive action to protect the state’s territorial integrity. This includes engaging with relevant stakeholders, deploying legal mechanisms, and collaborating with neighbouring states to address the issue promptly.

The BNC also encouraged the Governor to inspire constructive engagement between the government and stakeholders, including socio-cultural organisations, civil society groups, and the private sector.

The organisation believes that inclusive governance, driven by open dialogue and collaboration, will ensure that government policies align with the needs and aspirations of the people of Edo State.

Reaffirming its commitment to the development of Edo State, the BNC expressed its readiness to partner with the state government in reviving and implementing development plans.

The organisation pledged to contribute its expertise, resources, and networks to support the government in achieving its goals of advancing the state to greater heights.

In conclusion, the BNC congratulated Governor Okpebholo on his first 100 days in office and expressed confidence in his ability to lead Edo State towards peace, progress, and prosperity.

The organisation reiterated its commitment to working with the government and other stakeholders to ensure that Edo State realises its full potential as an economic hub.

The statement ended with assurances of the BNC’s highest regard to the Governor.
