Edo State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the State Government’s ban on illegal revenue collection, vowing to collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure strict compliance and restore public order across the state.
This was a fallout of a strategic meeting at the State Police Command’s Headquarters in Benin City between the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika and a delegation from the Edo State Government.
With the strategic meeting, Edo State Police Command has fully committed to the enforcement drive to restore sanity in the revenue collection system and entrench transparency in the revenue ecosystem.

The strategic closed-door meeting at the instance of Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, with the Secretary to Edo State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor Esquire and a delegation from the Edo State Government is to hand over ten suspects arrested for violating the ban against illegal revenue collection in parts of Benin City.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Joel Yamu, who represented CP Monday Agbonika, stated that the State Police Command and Chairman, EIRS Otunba Oladele Bankole-Balogun and Commander of the Special Taskforce, SP Michael Anetor, were addressing journalists after the closed-door meeting, said anybody who flouts the directive will be made to face the full force of the law.
“After our meeting we all agreed that any defaulter will be made to face the full wrath of the law as the government pronouncement must be respected”
The ten individuals arrested by the Edo State Special Task Force for illegally collecting levies from traders and commercial drivers have since been handed over to the Police for further investigation and prosecution.
