EFCC Storms Ogun Government Hotel, Arrests 56 Internet Fraudsters

As the current administration continues to clamp down on activities of internet fraudsters popularly known as 'yahoo-yahoo, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commissions, EFCC yesterday stormed an Ogun State Government hotel, the Mitros Residences Annex and two other hotels in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The anti-graft agency in a sting operation arrested suspects.


Mitros Residences Annex, a 59-room hotel was constructed by the administration of former governor Ibikunle Amosun and was taken over by the administration of Dapo Abiodun.

The EFCC operatives were said to have broken into the hotels around 4am on Monday and arrested many of those who had lodged in and were suspected to be Internet fraudsters.

A worker said some of the suspected fraudsters escaped arrest, while others were whisked away by the operatives.

The Head of Public Affairs, Ibadan office, EFCC, Mr Tokunbo Odeniyi, confirmed the incident. He stated that it was true that the EFCC made the arrest where cars, laptops and other items were seized.
