Employer dragged online for sacking 3 employees due to heavy downpour

An employer has let off three of his employees for arriving late to work due to the severe downpour in Lagos state today, May 6.

The boss, identified as @humblecute on Twitter, took to the micro-blogging network to report that he sent his three staff home for being over an hour late to work.

He claims that a heavy downpour is not a sufficient reason for them to arrive late to work because his company has a strict punctuality policy.

“I sent 3 of my workers back home today..their excuse was ‘Rainfall’ I didn’t listen to them coz that wasn’t enough excuse for me + they already know the rules of the company.

They were 1hr 15 minutes late.. our company has a strict policy on Punctuality!”the employer wrote.

Many people were enraged by his tweet, accusing him of being insensitive to his workforce and suggesting him hire a staff van to transport his employees to work on a daily basis to avoid being late.

Some internet users also drew attention to an old tweet he sent in 2016, in which he stated that he would not return to work early due to rain and called him a hypocrite.
