Attempts to sanitise the oil industry and reduce oil theft have gotten a boost as operatives Of Tantita Security Service Limited, in conjunction with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have destroyed an illegal crude oil camp.
The oil camp had 700Kegs containing 21,000 litres of crude oil stored in a large reserve at Alowe, Ilaje community, in Ondo State.
According to a statement made available to journalists by an operative of Tantita, Captain Warriedi Enisuoh said they got a Tip-off that suspects were operating in illegal crude oil storage.

However, the suspects saw the security operatives engage them in a serious gun battle before they were overpowered by the superior engagement of the operators, which made them fill the scene of the incident with a speedboat.
Captain Warriedi disclosed that the security operatives later destroyed all the 700Kegs containing 21,000 litres Of adulterated crude oil, two wooden boats laden with crude oil while the entire illegal camp set ablaze to serve as a deterrent to others, in line with the federal government directive.
The security operatives, however, charged the community dwellers in the Niger Delta, especially the Illaje areas, to desist from crude oil theft pipeline vandalism and supported the federal government in fighting economic sabotage in the country.
