The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has assured the judiciary of his administration’s commitment to sustaining a cordial working relationship to tackle security challenges, particularly kidnapping and cultism.
Senator Okpebholo made the commitment when he received a delegation from the state Judiciary led by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Okungbowa.
The delegation from the Edo State Judiciary, led by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Daniel Okungbowa, is at Government House to strengthen collaboration with the executive in furthering development across all sectors of the state’s economy.
Chief Judge of Edo State Justice Daniel Okungbowa appealed to the executive Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to address some challenges in mitigating effective justice delivery.
These he listed to include shortage of staff, improved living conditions for inmates in correctional facilities and a request for residential accommodation for judges.
” We see the effort the executive has been making to.
ensure crimes are taking to the barest minimum we are doing our best to support but shortage of man power is a disadvantage and that’s why we call on the state government to assist towards that direction”.
Gov. Okpebholo, while commending the visit, highlights the gains of collaboration among the executive, judiciary and the legislature to engender development.
” We appreciate the visit but I want to say that if the three arms of government work perfectly together the issue of criminality will be reduced to its barest minimum”.
The visit is among the expected engagements among the arms of government to address insecurity and other socio-economic challenges across the state.
