Fake National Security Operative Arraigned In Ghana

A fake National Security operative is arrested by the Kibi Police while attempting to illegally mine gold on the concession of a mining company.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect, Ibrahim Amaniampong was armed with a pump-action gun, 47 ammunition and a handcuff.

He, along with his accomplice, Foster Twum, a taxi driver stormed the concession of MOS mining company at Habitat area in Kibi in the Eastern Region on October 7, 2020, at about 6.50 pm, according to Ghanaweb reports.

The accused were blacking rocks and mining during their arrest following the report made by the owner of the mining company.

Amaniampong was arrested with a pump-action gun, 47 live BB Cartridges, Spanner and a pair of handcuff, the report says.

The police impounded the cab with registration number GS 4047-11 used by the second accused.

The duo was remanded in prison on October 8, 2020, however, granted bail of GHc20,000 with two sureties each on their fourth appearance at the Koforidua District Court “B” presided over by Judge Eric Daning.

The case was adjourned to November 17, 2020.
