The Rivers police command reports that its agents saved 15 children who were kept in the home of Maureen Wechinwu, a suspected child trafficker who pretended to be a reverend sister and who was recognized.

On Tuesday, during the parade of criminal suspects in Port Harcourt, the state capital, Friday Eboka, the commissioner of police for Rivers, revealed this.

The commissioner said the rescued children were abducted within and outside the state.

Eboka said the command has contacted the parents of some of the children to identify them while efforts are being made to locate the parents of others.

"Fifteen children were rescued, and the case was transferred to the CP monitoring unit for discrete investigation.

“One of the rescued children — Prosper Godwin (m) — was abducted at Ikpazasia market in Bayelsa State on 31/10/2021 and was taken to the suspects."

The parents of 10 of the abducted children are yet to be contacted as Police continue their search for the parents.
