Family Mourn As Private Security Man Shot Dead In Edo

A 47-year-old private security Personnel has been shot dead in Benin city Edo state by unknown gunmen.

The deceased Odion Omoera was attacked moment after he drove out of his house in the morning, an indication that the assailants laid an ambush for him.

Standard Gazette Crime Correspondent Festus Alenkhe who visited the area gathered that the deceased who was driving along his street in Iguomo near the Benin Bypass on Benin-Auchi road, Benin city was accosted by the hoodlums who opened gunfire directly into his moving car.

It was then revealed that the gun bullet hit him at close range.

Though he tried to escape with his Toyota Camry car with registration number SMK 856 BZ after he was shot, he could not drive far as he lost control and rammed into the perimeter fence of Iguomo primary school where he died on the spot.

The assailants who watched him dead later zoomed off towards Ehor road after they shot sporadically to scare the residents who took to their heels for safety.

When Standard Gazette correspondent visited the resident of the deceased, there was pain and agony as the family described him as a resourceful son who has been struggling to make ends meet.

His wife Mrs Omoera said, ” l want the police to thoroughly investigate the killing of my husband and bring those responsible to justice”.

MR Odion Omoera who was into private security services left behind a wife and children.
