Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala cruises to victory, grabbing a Gold medal with ano ther blistering run at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Reduit, Mauritius.
The African record holder won the Men’s 100m race by 0.003 ahead of former African Champion Akani Simbine. He rallied from behind to win in 9.93 seconds.
Omanyala’s feat saw him break Nigeria’s Seun Ogunkoya Championships’ record of 9.94 set in 1998.
He joins the list after a 32-year wait as the second Kenyan to have won gold at the 100m title in the Championships after legendary Joseph Gikonyo.
