Kenya Volleyball Federation has named a twelve-man squad that will represent the country in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
Those selected are Mercy Moim, Noel Murambi, Pamela Jepkirui, Leonida Kasaya, Edith Mukuvilani, Lorine Chebet, Gladys Ekaru, Sharon Chepchumba, Emmaculate Chemtai, Jane Wacu, Joy Lusenaka, and Agripna Kundu.
A squad of 20 players began training ahead of the tournament in March at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani at the outskirt of Nairobi.
However, At the end of April, the federation dropped four players from the squad leaving only sixteen.
The team’s selection has been based on merit and experience.
The technical bench has noted that there is no guaranteed spot for the selected players if they do not keep their sharpness.
The deadline for submitting the final squad to the Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) will be on July 5.
