On Friday morning, October 15, 2021, an inferno destroyed a Vihiga Boys Secondary School dormitory in Western Kenya.
After vain attempts to save bedding and uniforms, the students watched in terror as the inferno devoured their valuables.
Vihiga County Police Commander Benjamin Ong’ombe confirmed the event, saying the fire disrupted study and normal operations at the institution.
Even though the property of unknown value had already been destroyed, firefighters from the county government reacted to calls from the administration and were able to put out the fire.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
According to sources familiar with the Friday morning blaze, a similar effort to torch the dormitory was foiled on Thursday night.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
