Peter Obi, the Former Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, has called on leaders at all levels to prioritize policies that will take Nigerians out of poverty.

Mr. Obi’s visit to the Benin Airport, a strategic move to address the pressing issue of poverty, was met with anticipation and interest.

Peter Obi was given a warm welcome at the Benin Airport on Thursday by some senior party officials of the Labour Party.

Addressing reporters at the Benin Airport, Peter Obi said he is in Benin City at the invitation of the Goodluck Jonathan’s Foundation to attend an annual lecture on leadership.

Peter Obi emphasized the need for leaders in the country to critically look into the issue of national minimum wage to end poverty.

He underscored the severity of the people’s suffering, a clear indication of the urgent need for leaders to devise effective policies for the public’s benefit.

He, however, said that if leaders had adequate planning, reduced exorbitant spending, and were accountable to the people, Nigeria would be a better country.
