Former Nigerian Senator Francis Arthur Nzeribe dies at 83

A former Nigerian Senator, Francis Arthur Nzeribe, is reportedly dead.

The former Senator died at the age of 83.

Sahara Reporters quote a source that the former lawmaker died on Sunday morning of an undisclosed ailment.

He died at a foreign hospital.

"He died this morning in a hospital abroad. The family will soon release a statement," the source said.

Nzeribe was first elected to represent Orlu in 1999 and was re-elected in 2003 but was suspended in November 2002 over an alleged N22 million misappropriation.

In 2006, he was defeated by Osita Izunaso during the Peoples DemocraticParty (PDP) primaries for the 2007 Senatorial election.

The former senator was born in Oguta, Imo State on 2 November 1938. In 2007 August the former senator was appointed a member of the Board of Trustees.
