Nigerian Presidency has explained why the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) is a terrorist group and Fulani herdsmen is a mere criminal gang.
The statement was made by the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Garba Shehu on Channels Tv.
Shehu, while giving the difference between Fulani Herdsmen and IPOB said, there was no difference between Boko Haram and IPOB as IPOB has a flag, want a country inside a country, have funding just like the deadly Boko Haram.
He said: “There is a difference between a criminal activities and a terrorist activities. The Fulani herdsmen are a criminal gang and they are being dealt with in accordance with the law of the country.
“IPOB like Boko Haram has a territory they have carved for themselves as a sovereignty state of their own, showed the willingness to invade the neighbouring state, they have raised concerns in neighbouring Kogi and in Benue and they said they are interested in taking over Bayelsa and Rivers State.
“That is exactly what Boko Haram has done, with the flag and the taxation system and this is not acceptable to the law of the country.”
Fulani herdsmen have continued to kill, maim, and rape all over the country and the Presidency had earlier described them as faceless.
Meanwhile, in Southern Kaduna, over 200 people were slaughtered and the state governor, Mallam El-Rufai openly admitted paying the herdsmen to stop killing the farmers.
