Abdullahi Ganduje, Kano state Governor has begged the Federal Government to ease the 14-day lockdown on the state.
President Muhammadu Buhari ordered a lockdown on Monday as part of the measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
The President also that a team of experts had been deployed to investigate the alleged unknown death in the state.

After the announcement, Ganduje thanked the President that his focus on the state will assist in the tackling of the pandemic.
However, while speaking on Thursday at the Government House, Ganduje said during the inauguration of a panel to support the state Task Force Technical Committee, that the President should relax the lockdown to alleviate the suffering it poses on the residents of the state.
According to TheCable reports quoting Ganduje saying that “We would engage the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to seek permission to relax the total lockdown imposed on Kano.
“We are making this appeal on behalf of our people who are presently running out of food items. We would love the federal government to relax the lockdown for a period of time to enable people to stock their homes, especially now that majority of us are fasting. It will also ease the economic hardship in the state.”
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control announced on Thursday that Kano recorded new 80 cases of COVID-19.
Kano State has a total of 219 cases with five fatalities and zero recoveries.
