A senator representing Kaduna Central district Shehu Sani has urged the Federal government to give a breakdown on how the $1bn will be spent to fight Boko Haram.
Sani was referring to the $1bn the Federal government claimed to withdraw from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) to fight Boko Haram insurgency in the North East.

The Senator warned that the idea of throwing money to fight insurgency hasn’t worked in the past.
“One billion dollars to fight Boko Haram as approved by the FG officially means the insurgent is yet to be “technically” defeated.
“The breakdown of the sum is necessary to make meaning out of it.Throwing money to counter those throwing bombs hasn’t worked in the past.”
Similarly, a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode also frowned at the claimed by the Federal Government to withdraw a huge amount to fight boko haram.
The former Minister, like the governor of Ekiti State, alleged that Buhari is preparing to fund his 2019 presidential election with the $1bn.
Fani-Kayode said “The $1 billion will be used by Buhari and his APC to fight the 2019 presidential election and part of it will be shared between party leaders and the cabal.”
