Gory Picture: Gunmen Kill Artisan In Benin City

A middle-aged man has been shot dead in Benin city by unknown gunmen.

The man simply called “Papa Mali” is a popular carpenter at Okabere in Upper Sakpomba area of Benin City, Edo State.

Hê was allegedly shot dead in his workshop along Okabere road, off Upper Sokponba road in Benin city by some gunmen who rode on a motorcycle to the area.

Standard Gazette gathered that some gunmen stormed the workshop at about 3.30 pm on 29 December 2020 went straight to the man and dragged him out before pumping several gunshots into his body.

The assailants later fired some gunshots into the air to scare the people in the locality who eventually took to their heels to avoid stray bullets.

They were said to have waited patiently for the man to die before they left the scene.

Some residents described the late carpenter as a diligent and quiet man who has been in the area for years.

They wondered why he was killed by the assailants and called on the police to bring his killers to justice.

As at press time 29 December 2020 03:58 pm, the lifeless body of the young man was still on the floor as the area has been deserted over the fear of the unknown.

The reason for his assassination could not be easily ascertained as at the time of going to press but there have been pockets of secret cult killings in the past weeks in Benin city.
