The Governor Of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has urged newly appointed Civil servants to be professional in their conduct and stick to the rules and core value of integrity in discharging their duties.
The governor also inaugurated a committee to put in place modalities for the implementation of local government autonomy in the state.
The new permanent secretaries in Edo State civil and public service, Queeneth Orobedo and Ojo Akin Longe, subscribed to the Oath of Office and allegiance to the state government.
Gov. Obaseki told the appointees that much is expected from them, especially in an era of technology-driven civil service and efficient service delivery.
He advised them to be of good conduct and enjoined them to join hands in helping to fully shape the civil service administration that will outclass their counterpart from other States in Nigeria.
Mrs Queeneth Orobedo, on behalf of Ojo Akin-Longe, promised their commitment to ensuring quality service delivery, saying the trust bestowed on them would not be misplaced.
Gov. Obaseki, in a related development, inaugurated a committee to put in place modalities for the implementation of the local government autonomy.
Chairman of the Committee and the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, is to be assisted by the state commissioner for local government and community Affairs, Monday Osaigbovo.
The priority areas of the Committee include ensuring due diligence in payment of workers’ salaries, pensions and gratuity, traditional council staff, and primary healthcare.
In his response, the state Commissioner for Local Government, Monday Osaigbovo, assured the governor that the priority areas will be streamlined as directed to ensure the standard already set by the state government is not derailed.
