The governor of Ebonyi State David Umahi is at it again as he has banned two journalists Chijioke Agwu and Peter Okutu from reporting on the state.

The governor declared this in a state broadcast on Wednesday.

Mr Chijioke Agwu and Peter Okutu had made reports about the devastating deaths being recorded in the state by Lassa Fever.

But Umahi, who is not free from controversies, got offended by the reports and placed a life ban on the two journalists.

Umahi said: “If you think you have the pen, we have the koboko (a whip for flogging cows).”

The questions on everybody’s lips is: does the governor have the power to place a life ban on journalists doing their legitimate assignment? A life ban? In a democracy?
