“We write on behalf of the entire indegenes of Edo for Your Excellency’s consideration and kind approval of the immediate deployment of Covid-19 Test Kits and Reagents to Health Institutions in Edo State, particularly, the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).

“This has become necessary due to the increasing numbers of Covid-19 positive patients in Edo state. The current practice of sending samples to the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) which is over 3 hours drive from the state capital has become besetting and intergrity of samples could be compromised. By the current global health standard, the logistic stretch between test centres and isolation/treatment centres constitute a huge challenge to set goals delivery. The functionality of the COVID-19 test equipments in Iruaa Specialist Teaching Hospital is gratifying, we respectfully sue for the provision basic complementary amenities like industrial borehole and water treatment and distribution equipments, to strengthen enhance goal delivery.”

The group noted that the Minister should act since he is in the forefront of the COVID -19 fight.

“We make this urgent appeal believing that the Honourable Minister of Health who is at the forefront of this fight against the Covid19 pandemic will see reason and grant immediately and unconditionally. The proactive approach set on motion by the FG before the first index case was reported in Nigeria, and the painstaking responses to curtail the spread of the pandemic is commendable, and this has been acknowledged by the United Nations Secretary General. We sue for its sustenance.”
