Three passengers kidnapped during the deadly attack on a transport bus along the Benin-Ore Road have regained their freedom, as confirmed by the Edo State Police Command.

The incident involved a bus associated with GUO Motors, which has raised concerns about passenger safety on popular routes.

The Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, who disclosed this to journalists, also revealed that six other kidnapped victims have also regained their freedom.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, the victims’ regaining of freedom followed the immediate deployment of tactical teams, intelligence assets, and aerial surveillance to comb the affected areas.

He said three victims from the GUO transport incident along the Benin-Ore Road were rescued, alongside two others abducted on the Benin-Lagos Expressway.

The Police Command also confirmed the rescue of four additional victims who were kidnapped earlier in the month and held captive in the Imiegba forest in Agenebode.

“As we speak, all the rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention and have since been reunited with their families.

We are assuring commuters and residents that security presence has been reinforced along major highways and adjoining communities to prevent further incidents”

The Command also added that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend those responsible for the attacks.
