Tony Kababa has expressed shock over the sudden decision of the Edo State government to destroy his hotel, T Latifah.
The Hotel which is located at Ugbor, GRA in Benin City was this afternoon demolished by the Edo State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Tony Adun popularly known as Kabaka told NAIJA CENTER on Wednesday that the case between him and the government was still pending judgement.
He said the government refused to wait for Friday which is the day set aside for the judge to make a judgement on the case.
Kabaka, therefore, vowed to sue the state government over the demolition.
“We are still in court, the matter is still pending in court and on Friday is supposed to be our judgement. The man did not wait for judgement because when we were in court, he denied that I did not build on government land.
“He suddenly came up with another case that I didn’t have a building plan but the judge said that was not the case before him.
“Obaseki knows he is leaving soon and he just made sure he destroyed my hotel, he refused to wait for judgement.
“The man frustrated me, I just want to be myself, a lot of money went down.”
On whether he destroyed the entire hotel, he said: “The way they demolished it, you can see the building is gone.”
“I won’t do anything, I will still wait till on Friday and after that, my lawyer will sue him. For now, the case is pending in court, my injunction has not been vacated.
“Anybody you are not supporting now will point hand at your property, imagine, after suffering for years. I’ll leave everything to God.”
In October 2019, the Edo State government gave Kabaka’s seven days ultimatum to remove his hotel or be demolished.
In the same month, a cousin to the governor, Don Pedro Obaseki had defended his brother, saying the government was doing a bad job in the narrative.
Obaseki argued that the residents of the area had petitioned the government since 2016 over the location of the hotel but he was untouched as Adams Oshiomhole was the then governor.
“This is the so-called Tony Kabakaas hotel. Built on the right of way. His land ended about 50ft to the road and one day, he realised he needed a swimming pool and so decided to annex the road, thereby converting the thoroughfare to a close. The day he fenced the road off, he took over the vicinity and ordered motorists at gunpoint to seek alternative routes.
“He enters the hotel from the access door he created behind whenever he is coming from his house on this same street. The landlords have been crying in silence since 2016.” Obaseki said.
In an earlier statement made by Kabaka after the demolition of his hotel, Kabaka said the destruction of his hotel will not make him support Obaseki’s second term ambition.
“It is unfortunate that the governor still went ahead and destroy my hotel.
Doing that will not make me support you or be afraid. I was born and brought up in Edo State and I am a prince, there is no way I am going to run away.
“For Obaseki to go as far as to destroy my property because of the election, he has not contributed anything to my life, he has not bought me pure water one day but today what I have achieved in my life he decided to destroy it.
“Well, I thank God, May God bless him, may God continue to help him since he said this is the only way we can dialogue, the only way he can oppress us to join him. For me, he has done worse, he cannot do worse than this,” he said.
