Mrs Comfort Biakpara, who was in her early 50s, was reportedly brought to her family compound in Ubulu-Uku by her husband, who was from the state’s Burutu Local Government Area.

It was terrible yesterday (Saturday). Our sister was brought without eyes, tongue or other organs.

“As they laid our sister on a bench in the canopy and family members and other people were going to see her, unfortunately, we first discovered that cotton wool was put on her eyes.

“When we raised the alarm and enquired further, we discovered that there were no eyes and that was when youths revolted and started scattering everywhere. Some sustained minor injuries in the process,” a family member told newsmen.

The body was abandoned at the canopy till around 8 p.

m., when it was transferred to a mortuary with the help of some community vigilantes.

According to the source, the family was bracing for a confrontation with the victim’s spouse. It was learnt that the husband was also absent at the burial and other family members who had come for the burial ran away after confrontation by the wife’s family.
