Even President Muhammadu Buhari could not seem to understand what was going on with the country’s intelligence and security architecture after a coordinated attack on the maximum prison in the heart of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Over 500 inmates were released after gunmen invaded the correctional facility.

Iswap has now claimed responsibility for the incident after releasing a video of the attack.
President Muhammadu Buhari, reacting to the Kuje Attack expressed his frustration, posing a question to Nigerians in what is seen as a helpless situation. He wrote on his Twitter handle,
“Saddened by the attack on the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje. I am disappointed with the Intelligence system. How can terrorists organize, have weapons, attack a security installation and get away with it? I am expecting a comprehensive report on this shocking incident.”
The attacks occurred a day after the security team attached to the President was also ambushed in Buhari’s home town, Daura on Monday where two Police escorts reportedly lost their lives.
