But days later, it was discovered that Ms Abugu was dead in their custody, while the SARS operatives claimed she passed away from a drug overdose. And this has led the family to call on the Nigerian Police to carry out an autopsy and forensic investigation into circumstances surrounding her death.
But amidst the back and forth by the family and officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Shehu Sani, a right activist and politician has asked the police boss to unravel the culprits that masterminded the death of the promising young lady.
While speaking Vi his official tweeter handle on Wednesday, Sani wrote; “The IG of police must thoroughly investigate the circumstances behind the arrest and murder of the 28-year-old Ifeoma Abugu, an IMT graduate. The reported killing of this promising lady in Abuja must not be treated with kid glove. My condolences to her family.”
Ms Abugu, who was preparing for her marriage billed for December 2020, following the success of her introduction a few days ago, had visited her fiancé, Afam Ugwunwa, at Wumba village near Lokogoma area of Abuja.
