Edo legislative arm and the Edo State Police command are set to flex muscles owing to the arrest of some elders of the Ikpeshi community who were invited by the state house of assembly for settlement of the crisis in the community.

To this effect, the Edo State House of Assembly has summoned the commissioner of police in Edo State Monday Agbonika to appear before it to give a reason behind the arrest of the people they invited for settlement.

Setting the ball rolling during Monday’s plenary the majority leader Jonathan Aigbokhai, frowned at the arrest after the meeting with the warring faction last week Wednesday, describing it as an affront to the legislative arm especially when it was done in the front of the assembly.

He said to worsen the situation there was no permission whatsoever from the police to the leadership of the house.

According to him, ” Mr speaker this is an aberration and a sacrilege for the police to disrespect the legislative arm and arrest those we invited for peace we won’t take or accept this in any form”.

However, other members joined in condemning the act by the police
The speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, passed a resolution summoning the state police Commissioner, Monday Agbonika, to appear before the house on Tuesday.

The speaker said, ” I have listened to members and we will now invite the police commissioner to come and give us the reason clerk please write a letter to the commissioner inviting him for  Tuesday”.
