A 54-year-old man from Ilford has been sentenced to jail for raping a nine-year-old girl.
Monsor Kazi of Hickling Road was sentenced at Snarebrook Crown on Friday, 14 June, to 13 years and six months imprisonment.
Monsor was found guilty of seven counts of rape and assault of an underage girl who was known to him.

The abuse was reported by the father of the victim on Saturday, 12 February 2022, leading to an investigation. The suspect was trapped, interviewed and arrested the same day.
Detective Constable Chloe James, who led the investigation based at Romford Police Station, said: “We’re very grateful to the victim for her courage in speaking about the abuse she faced at the hands of Kazi, and the witnesses who came forward to support this investigation.
“As a result of working tirelessly with colleagues from the Crown Prosecution Service, to build a case against Kazi, he will now spend years behind bars. He will be made to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life on his release.”
Officers seized various items from a property in Dagenham, such as the victim’s clothing and bedding. Forensics teams rapidly analyzed the seized items. Neighbourhood officers conducted inquiries and gathered statements from the victim and key witnesses.
According to court proceedings, Morzi started abusing the child in May or June 2021, and it lasted for approximately six months.
Initially, Kazi denied the allegations.
However, the evidence stacked against him in court led to his prosecution.
Kazi was charged on Sunday, 13 February 2022 and convicted at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday, 25 October 2022.
