A former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has debunked a speculation making rounds on social media that he had gone into self exile in Cote d’Ivoire.

According to the report, Jonathan maybe arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as he arrived in Nigeria on allegation bordering on misappropriation of billions of dollars and corruption during the time in which he was the President.
Reacting to the speculation, an aide who spoke with NAIJA CENTER NEWS confirmed reading the speculation but assured that the former President would make a former statement on it.
He denied the speculation that Jonathan was seeking safe haven in Cote d’Ivoire when he is currently in Spain.
He said ” Jonathan was in England and decided to go to Spain, i don’t know anything about Cote d’Ivoire. He would make a formal statement soon”
Similarly, another of his former aide, Reno Omokri also denied the speculation, adding that Jonathan has no reason to embark on such an exile.
According to him ” “I’m in touch with former President @GEJonathan and I have spoken to Nduka Obaigbena. The story on GEJ exile is false #GEJISNOTONEXILE,” he tweeted.
“The @GEJonathan has absolutely no reason to even contemplate exile. He is proud of his meritoriously service to Nigeria #GEJISNOTONEXILE.
“Furthermore, @GEJonathan is a man of peace whose future isn’t worth the blood of any Nigerian. He has no link to violence #GEJISNOTONEXILE.
“@GEJonathan assures Nigerians that he’s been on a multi city speaking tour & WILL RETURN to Nigeria afterward as planned. #GEJISNOTONEXILE.”
