ISIS in West Africa Province (ISWAP) has launched a series of rocket assaults on Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.
The attacks were carried out on Thursday, ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the city to inaugurate state government projects.
The bombs landed in numerous locations of the metropolis, including the towns of Ngomari, Bulumkutu, Ajilari, and Ayafe.
According to reports, the insurgents launched the attack from the outskirts of Auno, around 15 kilometers outside the city.
Residents in the vicinity scurried for cover as explosions erupted nearby.
The exact number of people killed or injured has yet to be determined, but many homes were damaged.
The president arrived around 11 a.m. in Maiduguri as part of a one-day official visit to Borno.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
