Unknown gunmen seem to be serving the breakfast to reach government officials in a latest onslaught against the Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Niger State, Mohammed Idris.
Idris was said to have been abducted by the gunmen “at about one o’clock in the early hours of Monday from his home at Baban Tunga village in Tafa local government of the State,” Mary Noel-Berje, the chief press secretary to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, gave the disclosure.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, said that the gunmen who came on about fifteen motorcycles with sophisticated weapons kidnapped the commissioner at about 11 p.m. during a downpour in the area.
As at press time, the whereabouts of the Commissioner is yet to be ascertained as the kidnappers had yet to make contact.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).©Standard Gazette, 2021.
