Kankara Students’ Abduction: Police Boss Deploys Detectives and Tactical Squads

Nigeria Inspector General of Police, M.A Adamu has redeployed additional operational and investigative assets to support the ongoing search and rescue operation in Kankara and its environs in Katsina State.

An unspecified number of students of Government Science Secondary School in Kankara Local Government Area was abducted on Friday at 22:45hrs.

This incident happened 5 hours after the Nigeria President landed in his home town, Katsina State for a private visit.

Inspector Adamu said in a statement on Saturday evening that includes “tactical squads and cracks detectives from the Force Intelligent Bureau.”

The detectives are to provide investigative support to the local police in the state and to work in sync with the military and other law enforcement agents to ensure the missing students are rescued.

The Police said one of the bandits was killed and a policeman was injured and currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Kankara community.

“The exact number of students missing cannot be ascertained at the moment as massive operations including investigations, search and rescue exercise are still ongoing,” Police report said.

Meanwhile, the IGP has ordered the immediate review and strengthening of security arrangements around educational institutions in the Country.
