In a bid to reduce tension and crisis emanating from the power tussle over the Kano emirship, the Kano State House of Assembly has passed a bill seeking the creation of a second-class Emirates in the state.
On Tuesday, during its plenary session presided over by Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore, the House passed the bill.
It should be recalled that the lawmakers had previously conducted the first reading of the bill before going on recess.
They resumed from recess on Monday.
Deputy Speaker Muhammad Bello Butubutu moved for the adoption and passage of the bill after the second and third readings.
This development comes amidst the lingering battle for the throne between the reinstated Kano Emir, Muhammad Sanusi II, and the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.
It was further reported that the new second-class emirates created include Rano, Karaye, and Gaya, with Bichi excluded.
