Kenya Forest Service plants more than 35000 trees across the country

Kenya Forest Service field officers continue to lead tree planting activities in different parts of the country.

In Coast Conservancy, a total of 32,900 seedlings were planted in Tana River County in conjunction with Eden Reforestation Projects, Ozi, Chara and Kilelengwani Community Forest Associations.

In Elgeyo Marakwet County, 2000 seedlings were planted with support from the National Tree Planting Campaign Project with aim to rehabilitate degraded escarpment areas.

Elsewhere, in North Rift Conservancy a total of 2000 seedlings were planted in Uasin Gishu and Nandi Counties.

“These exercises were attended by representatives from Ministry of Education and National Government Administrative Officers while Platinum Credit and Hearts of Green were among the notable participants from the private sector stakeholders,” said KFS.

These exercises also engaged members of the local communities and schools.
