The Kenya Rugby Union on Friday named Kevin Wambua as Kenya Men’s Sevens National Team known as Shujaa for the upcoming Olympic qualifiers in Zimbabwe.
Mr. Wambua will serve in the position on a full-time basis until the end of the Olympic qualifiers slated for September 16 and 17. He will be deputized by Louis Kisia.
Other members of the technical team include Steve Sewe (Team Manager), Lameck Bogonko (Team Physio), Andrew Amonde (Strength & Conditioning Coach), Chris Brown (Consultant, Strength and Conditioning Coach) and Eric Ogweno (Team Liaison).
“As the Kenya Rugby Union, we are immensely proud and excited to announce the Technical Bench that will lead our Kenya 7s team during the Olympic qualifiers. We have full confidence in Coach Kevin Wambua and his team, who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and skill in their respective fields,” said Kenya Rugby Union Chairman Sasha Mutai.
“With their expertise and the unwavering support of our fans, we are confident that our team will make our nation proud as they strive for success on the international stage.”
The union said that it is convinced that the technical team is dedicated and has enough experience to help the team qualify for the 2024 Olympics.
