Kenyan coach axes eight players from 36-man squad

Kenya’s soccer head coach Jacob Ghost Mulee has dropped eight players from his provisional squad announced last week.

The eight are Gor Mahia’s trio Benson Omala, Clifton Miheso, and Samuel Onyango; Kevin Kimani, Nahason Alembi, and Baraka Badi. Others are Brandon Obiero and Clyde Senaji.

Kenya will host Uganda in a World Cup qualifier on September 2 before travelling to Kigali to take on Rwanda three days later.

Players plying their trades in foreign leagues began to report in the training camp yesterday led by striker Michael Olunga who plays for Al-Duhail SC.

Goalkeeper Ian Otieno, striker Masuj Juma, defender Eric Ouma, and midfielder Kenneth Muguna had also arrived.

The rest are expected today, ahead of their final training session on September 1, 2021.

Kenyans protested Captain Victor Wanyama, Ayub Timbe, Johana Omollo, Joash Onyango, and Jesse Were's absence from the squad.
