Kenya’s Independent and Boundaries Electoral Commission is set to disqualify George Koimburi Ndungu from participating in a local by-election for allegedly forging academic papers.
Mr Koimburi failed to appear in court on April 14 to respond to allegations levelled against him, forcing the court to issue his arrest warrant.
The court report indicates that he is facing three charges, and the police have been ordered to present him in court on April 26.

In the first count, he is accused of forging a Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) certificate between November and December 1994 at an undisclosed time and place.
He is also alleged to have fabricated a Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) certificate of participation, purporting to be a genuine and duly signed certificate issued by the institution between September 2011 and April 2012.
The third charge states that he forged a JKUAT academic excellence certificate.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), after the investigations, discovered that the documents are fake.
KNEC and JKUAT also disowned the papers.
“A candidate by the name of Ndungu George Koimburi did not register nor sit for the year 1994 KCSE examination at Ekalakala Secondary School under index 62001/013,” KNEC acting CEO Mercy Karogo said in a letter sent to DCI.
Juja’s parliamentary seat in central Kenya fell vacant following the demise of lawmaker Francis Munyua Waititu after a long battle with brain cancer.
The mini poll is slated for May 18, 2021.
