A court in Kenya has detained a woman accused of murdering his husband for seven to pave the way for investigations.

Gladys Chania and Maurice Mbugua appeared before Kiambu Senior resident magistrate Wilson Rading on Monday over the alleged murder of George Mwangi.

Following the ruling, the suspects will appear in court for further direction on October 24, 2022.

Chania, the political aspirant in the recently concluded general elections was arrested last Friday after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) linked her with the murder of her husband.

According to the DCI, Chania is believed to have masterminded the murder of her husband following her discovery that the father of their three children was having an affair with another woman.

She is suspected of having been assisted by a newly employed casual labourer and other accomplices in committing the cold-blooded murder. The deceased arrived back in the country on September 13 from Rwanda, where he is a contractor.

“According to multiple sources, their union seemed to have been undergoing turbulent times since the woman would mostly spend her time at their Thika home while Mwangi would stay at the splendid 5-bedroomed Mang’u residence whenever he was in the country,” said DCI.
