Kenya’s ward representative Ronald Sagurani has succumbed to Covid-19 related complications.
Mahoo Member of the County Assembly (MCA) in Taita Taveta County, coastal part of the country, breathed his last at Pandya Hospital in Mombasa while undergoing treatment.
The deceased has been in the facility’s Intensive Care Unit for the last two weeks.
Taita Taveta County Assembly Speaker Meshack Maghanga confirmed Mr Sagurani’s death.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing on of Ronald Sagurani, leader of the minority party and Member of County Assembly,” said Maghanga while calling for prayers for his family, the citizen of Mahoo ward and the county assembly.
The county’s Governor Granton Samboja eulogized the deceased as a dedicated leader who served people diligently.
“His unmatched dedication to serve not only the people of Mahoo but the entire county of Taita Taveta has seen devolution achieve a lot through quality service delivery and development. MCA Sagurani was a foremost leader who served his people diligently,” said Governor Samboja.
Sagurani’s death comes a day after nominated Senator Victor Prengei succumbed to injuries following a road accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
