Delta State Police Command arrested a 21-year-old woman, Princess Okolie, and her boyfriend, Prince Atigbi, for orchestrating her kidnapping in an attempt to extort two million naira from the unsuspecting parents.
Parading the suspects in Asaba, Delta State Police command headquarters, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, said the command Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad received a call from Mrs Joy Okolie that her daughter Princess Okolie left the house on 30 December 2024.
According to the PPRO, Mrs Okolie later received calls on 2 January 2025, that her daughter, Princess Okolie, had been and the kidnappers were demanding two million Naira.
He said, however, the complaint prompted the anti-kidnapping and cybercrime squad to swing into action and arrest Princess Okolie and her accomplice, Prince Atigbi, who played the script of his girlfriend’s kidnapping.
In her emotional trauma, the mother of Princess Okolie, Mrs Joy Okolie, explained the agony she went through, saying she never envisaged such would happen in her family.
The suspects confessed that it was not their intention and they didn’t forge kidnap but only needed money to carry out certain things that would be beneficial to them.
The Police image maker said both suspects are in custody, with The ransom money, while the investigation is ongoing as they will later be charged in court.
