The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, has approved another sum of N542.416m for the payment of the First School Leaving Certificate, Basic Six and Common Entrance Examination, JAMB and Basic Education Certificate BACE 2025.
Addressing Newsmen, in Lokoja, the Kogi State Commissioner For Education, Hon Wemi Jones, said the reason behind the policy of the State government is to increase school enrollment, reduce out-of-school children and ensure school completion period.
The Payment for the Basic Certificate Examination covers 25,100 pupils in public schools amounting to the sum of N145m.
Similarly, the payment for the BECE examination is for 30500 students who are to write the JSS3 examination across 21 LGAs of the State is put at N215m.
Similarly, the Payment of the JAMB fee covers 18,734 students in SS3 classes at the cost of N181,719m.
The Commissioner said the State Government gesture is in line with the tenet of the Kogi State free examination law for students and pupils.
The Commissioner disclosed that the large chunk of N661m for payment of WAEC has been released to the Ministry, pointing out that the process of profiling to ensure that only deserving Students benefit is ongoing across public institutions in the State before WAEC closes.
