Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo flagged off the distribution of free malaria drugs and test kits to public hospitals in the state.
Following the one-year anniversary of the Kogi state governor Usman ODODO, he continued his selfless service to the people by flagging off the distribution of free malaria drugs and test kits to 536 government health facilities (two primary healthcare centres per ward, general and cottage hospitals and all tertiary hospitals in the state).
The effort is to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with malaria thereby reducing the prevalence of malaria in the state.
The governor said “The supplies include over 10,000 cartons of antimalarial drugs and test kits, with more than 1 million doses for children and nearly 2 million doses for adults.
Beyond this, we are also preparing to distribute over 3 million Long-Lasting Insecticide-Treated Nets (LLINs) across all 21 local government areas of the state to further prevent malaria”.
This intervention is worth over 4 billion naira and the governor has warned that anyone found diverting or selling these drugs or test kits will be sanctioned accordingly.
He thereafter urged the people of the state to the designated facilities within the state and get free malaria testing and malaria treatment.
