A governor in the Southern part of Nigeria, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has tested positive for Coronavirus.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Health Prof.
Akin Abayomi said on Saturday.
Sanwo-Olu went into self-isolation on Friday after he learned he was in contact with someone who earlier tested positive for Coronavirus.

In a statement on Saturday, Abayomi said the governor was receiving treatment from experts at home.
The statement read, “Following Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s exposure to a confirmed case of COVID19, a PCR test performed yesterday the 11th of December has confirmed that he has indeed been infected with the virus which is supported by mild symptoms and fatigue typical of a mild case of COVID-19.
“Mr Governor is receiving treatment and is being closely monitored at home by the very experienced State #COVID19 clinical team from IDH Yaba.
“Mr Sanwo-Olu is doing well on treatment and rest, and we are confident that he will recover quickly and clear the virus.
”
Other governors in Nigeria had also tested positive for the virus – The governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, his counterpart, Ondo State governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Bauchi governor Bala Mohammed; and Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
The governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai has reportedly gone into isolation too after he learned someone he had met tested positive for Coronavirus.
