Following the relaxation of the lockdown that took effect today May 4th, residents in Lagos have trooped out in their large numbers.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had announced the easing up of the lockdown earlier imposed on Lagos, Ogun as well as the Federal capital territory, FCT Abuja.
But as many residents resume today, an investigation by NAIJA CENTER correspondent revealed that many of the residents are complying with the use of facial masks, but not the use of hand gloves around Volkswagen, Alaba international, Iyana -Iba all areas of Ojo local government in Lagos.

The Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwoolu had directed that anybody going out must comply with the use of facial masks and hand gloves. He also ordered that commercial buses must take only 60% of their normal capacity.
The governor also urged companies and businesses to provide running water for handwashing as well as hand sanitizers to members of their staff and that no company or business owners should exceed 3 pm as an official closing hour.
Our correspondent also gathered that many of the commercial buses are not complying with this directive, as many of the buses are filled with passengers and many of them clustering in violation of the social distancing policy.
When NAIJA CENTER went to a BRT centre in Mile 2 area of Lagos, passengers were seen clustering with some of them not wearing hand gloves.
NAIJA CENTER sort the view of one of the residents who pleaded anonymity on the relaxation of the lockdown, he said: “Easing the lockdown is a good decision. You can’t just ask people to stay at home without the necessary palliative. It’s being six weeks now and many people are tired of staying at home. The poverty and suffering have been huge. Let’s go out and make money. We would all be fine.”
With this series of violation of the guidelines and directives, it remains to be seen how the prevention of the further spread of COVID-19 is achieved in the state.
According to the Nigerian Center for Dresses Control, NCDC put the total cases at 2388, with 85 deaths and over 50% of these cases are in Lagos.
